About MeHi! I'm Ms. Nichols! I'm a northern girl, originally from Scranton, Pennsylvania. When I travel back home my favorite things to do are visit family, eat as much pizza as possible, and go to see as many Penn State football games as I can! (WE Are..!) This year, I'll be headed back to PA more often than usual though. That's because I'll be getting married on April 13th!
As a teacher, I am a huge proponent of STEM and Project-Based Learning. I believe it's important for students to take ownership of their learning, while making real-world connections to the content of each subject we study. Character development is also a passion of mine. It is important to me that I offer my students opportunities to develop empathy, responsibility, and initiative throughout the school year. Building and fostering relationships that allow my students to grow both academically and socially is a major component of my teaching philosophy. I earned both my bachelor's degree in elementary education and my master's degree in reading education from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. I lived in Maryland for four years before moving to Cary in 2015. While I lived in Maryland I taught fourth grade in Anne Arundel County. During my time teaching there, I also earned my TESOL certification from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. I am absolutely looking forward to another awesome year ahead! |
